When is it time to upgrade or replace?
Although the average criminal justice facility structure has a useful life of 30 to 50 years, its internal security electronics
system will last only 10 to 15 years. Most facilities will require at least two security electronics replacement cycles over
their lifetime.
These symptoms are normal for older security electronics systems and mean that the time for a major upgrade or complete replacement is rapidly approaching. While many agencies have already begun or completed security electronics replacement projects, many others desperately need replacement and are stalled by lack of capital funding or other project constraints. These agencies often endure high ongoing maintenance costs, even unsafe conditions, for an extended period while upgrade or replacement projects go begging. |
